Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault was named NBA Coach of the Year on Sunday, April 28, after leading one of the NBA’s youngest teams to tie for first place in the West.

The Thunder won 57 games this season, just three shies of a 60-win season, which helped them capture the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference playoffs, where, as of Monday, April 29, the Thunder lead the No. 8 Pelicans 3-0. Daigneault joins former Thunder head coach Scott Brooks as the only other Thunder coach to win Coach of the Year (2010).
Daigneault has led this young Thunder roster to one of the best positions in the NBA, behind start players Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and rookie Chet Holmgren, as well as young role players Lou Dort, Jalen Williams, Jaylin, Williams, and Josh Giddy. Daigneault’s accomplishment is even more significant with a lack of veteran leadership and role players.
The Thunder take on the Pelicans in New Orleans for Game 4, hoping to complete their four-game sweep and continue their miraculous season in the Western Conference Semi-Finals.
