Tyrese Maxey scored for 20 of his 35 points in a dominant third quarter, Andre Drummond added a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double, and the Philadelphia 76ers rolled past the Washington Wizards 121–102 on Tuesday night.
Coming off a 44-point outing, Maxey continued his scoring tear, shooting 13-for-26 and surpassing the 20-point mark for the 20th straight game. He finished with six assists and four steals in just 29 minutes.
Philadelphia led 66–54 at halftime, but Washington opened the third with seven straight points to cut the deficit to five. Maxey answered immediately, fueling an 11–2 run that restored the Sixers’ cushion and ignited a quarter in which he outscored the Wizards 20–23 on his own. He sat out the fourth with the game in hand.
The Sixers hit the 100-point mark late in the third on a Maxey free throw and then blew the game open with a 14–2 burst to start the fourth, pushing the lead to 115–79. The loss dropped Washington to 1–11 on the road.
Jared McCain scored 14 points off the bench, while fellow reserve Jabari Walker contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds. Paul George added 11 points.
Washington had seven players reach double figures, led by Tristan Vukcevic’s 16. Marvin Bagley III, Justin Champagnie, and Will Riley each finished with 13.
Maxey had 15 points by halftime, helping the Sixers knock down 9 of 21 from deep. Washington shot just 38% in the opening half. Philadelphia was without Quentin Grimes—third on the team at 17 points per game—for the first time this season.
