Matas Buzelis scored a career-high 41 points and hit a clutch 3-pointer with 2:20 remaining in overtime, while Josh Giddey recorded a triple-double of 21 points, 17 assists, and 13 rebounds, as the Chicago Bulls edged the Golden State Warriors 130–124 on Tuesday night.
Chicago’s Jalen Smith sent the game into overtime with two free throws with 1.4 seconds left in regulation, and Tre Jones added 22 points in the win, helping the Bulls bounce back from a 126–110 loss at Sacramento on Sunday.
Kristaps Porzingis led Golden State with 17 points and four blocks, while Pat Spencer had 17 points and six assists. Gui Santos scored 17 points, including a go-ahead layup with 4:11 left in regulation, and LJ Cryer contributed 17 points. Despite having Porzingis and Al Horford available after missing the previous game, the Warriors couldn’t secure a milestone victory for coach Steve Kerr, who was chasing his 600th career win.
Porzingis, playing just his second home game since being acquired from Atlanta at the trade deadline for Buddy Hield and Jonathan Kuminga, hit a three-point play with 4:52 left in the third quarter to pull Golden State within two, before the Warriors briefly took the lead on Cryer’s basket and another 3 from Porzingis.
The Warriors were without Stephen Curry (right knee) for a 15th straight game, as well as Seth Curry (sciatica), De’Anthony Melton (sore left inner thigh), Moses Moody (sprained right wrist), and Quinten Post (foot soreness). Golden State has now lost three straight games, including three in a row at Chase Center, and five of their last six.
Up next: The Bulls continue their five-game West Coast road trip with a visit to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, while the Warriors host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
