Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg will be sidelined for their final game before the All-Star break and will not participate in the NBA’s Castrol Rising Stars event on Friday due to a left midfoot sprain.

The team revealed Wednesday night that an MRI confirmed the injury, which occurred during Monday’s 120-111 loss at Phoenix, where Flagg had put up 27 points in 36 minutes. Further updates on their condition will be provided as appropriate.

Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in last summer’s draft, has made an immediate impact in Dallas. Across 49 games this season, the 19-year-old is averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.

The rookie has made NBA history for teenage scorers, recording four consecutive 30-point games—a streak that began with a record-setting 49-point effort against Charlotte on January 29. Fellow rookie and former Duke teammate Kon Knueppel has been a close collaborator during Flagg’s breakout season.

Dallas enters Thursday night’s matchup at the Los Angeles Lakers on an eight-game losing streak. During that stretch, Flagg has averaged 29.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. The Mavericks recently traded Anthony Davis, the 10-time All-Star, in a deal that originally brought superstar Luka Doncic to Los Angeles.

After the All-Star break, the Mavericks will resume play on the road, beginning with a Feb. 20 matchup at Minnesota.
