The Phoenix SunsInDevin Booker for at least one week due to a right hip strain suffered Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs.
Phoenix announced the injury update Saturday prior to its matchup with the Orlando Magic. Booker, 29, is averaging 24.7 points, 6.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds in 44 games this season. The setback comes shortly after he returned from a seven-game absence caused by a sprained right ankle.
The Suns also provided an update on recently signed guard Haywood Highsmith, who is rehabbing from right knee surgery performed during the offseason. The team said Highsmith is making “good progress” and will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks.
Phoenix has been one of the league’s surprise contenders at 32-24, but injuries have mounted as of late. The Suns have dropped four of their last five games entering the weekend.
