The Miami Heat extended their winning streak to five games Sunday night, defeating the Detroit Pistons 121–110 behind strong performances from Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.
Herro scored 25 points, while Adebayo finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and six assists, surpassing the 10,000-point mark for his career in the process. Adebayo entered the game needing 23 points to reach the milestone and became just the second player to score 10,000 points in a Heat uniform, joining franchise legend Dwyane Wade.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 19 points and seven assists for Miami (36–29), which matched its season high by moving seven games over .500 despite playing without Norman Powell (groin), Nikola Jović (back) and Andrew Wiggins (toe).
Detroit struggled early and never recovered. The Pistons fell behind by 25 points in the first half, their largest deficit before halftime this season, as Miami built an 18-point lead by the end of the first quarter and maintained a double-digit advantage for the final 38 minutes and 27 seconds.
The Heat effectively sealed the game midway through the third quarter. After Marcus Sasser missed a three-pointer that would have trimmed Detroit’s deficit to 15, Herro caught fire, knocking down three three-pointers in a span of 1:51 to stretch Miami’s lead to 93–66.
Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 26 points and 10 assists, while Jalen Duren added 24 points. The loss was the Pistons’ fourth straight, their longest losing streak of the season, though they still hold a 2½-game lead in the Eastern Conference over the Boston Celtics.
With the win, Miami claimed the season series 2–1, becoming the first Eastern Conference team to take a series from Detroit this season.
Up next: The Pistons continue their road trip Tuesday against the Brooklyn Nets, while the Heat return home the same night to face the Washington Wizards.
