Brice Sensabaugh scored 21 points and the short-handed Utah Jazz held off the injury-plagued Golden State Warriors 119–116 on Monday night.
Two-way player Blake Hinson delivered the decisive moment, drilling a go-ahead three-pointer from the right wing with 29.9 seconds remaining to put Utah ahead for good. Hinson finished with four made threes as the Jazz snapped a rough stretch in which they had lost eight of their previous nine games.
Kyle Filipowski added 19 points and 15 rebounds for Utah, while Elijah Harkless sealed the win with two free throws in the final seconds, finishing with a career-high 16 points.
Golden State nearly rallied late behind De'Anthony Melton, who led the Warriors with 22 points and hit a three-pointer that trimmed the deficit to 117–116. Gui Santos scored 15 points and Brandin Podziemski added 14, though he missed four free throws in the fourth quarter during the Warriors’ late push.
After missing 40 games with back issues, Seth Curry returned to action and scored 13 points for Golden State.
The game featured 19 lead changes before Utah created some separation with a 12–1 run late in the third quarter, taking an 89–78 lead with two minutes left in the period. The Warriors tied the contest again when Draymond Green made a free throw with 1:26 remaining.
Both teams were dealing with significant absences. The Warriors were without Stephen Curry and also lost Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Al Horford (toe) after they had played in Saturday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Utah was also missing Ace Bailey and Isaiah Collier due to illness, while Keyonte George scored 15 points but did not play in the fourth quarter because of illness.
Utah’s advantage at the free-throw line proved crucial, as the Jazz went 27-for-29 compared to Golden State’s 14-for-21.
The Warriors have now lost four of their last five games and are battling to remain in the Western Conference Play-In race.
