Kevin Durant moved into seventh place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list Friday night, passing Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain during the Houston Rockets’ game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Durant entered the night needing 15 points to surpass Chamberlain’s career total of 31,419. He reached the milestone with a 3-pointer at the 7:57 mark of the third quarter, giving him 31,422 points for his career. Dirk Nowitzki sits next on the list in sixth place with 31,560.

Now in his 18th NBA season, the 37-year-old Durant is a 15-time All-Star and continues to add to a résumé that already ranks among the greatest in league history. He also crossed another milestone Friday, surpassing 8,000 career rebounds.
Rockets coach Ime Udoka said before the game that Durant’s achievement was no surprise given his daily approach.
“It doesn’t amaze me when you see the work ethic and what he does on a day-to-day basis,” Udoka said.
Portland coach Tiago Splitter reflected on watching Durant’s rise dating back to his early years in Oklahoma City.
“Just a young Kevin Durant, scoring 30 every night, and he just keeps doing that, which is amazing,” Splitter said. “At his age, of course he’s probably at the end of his career, but doing that every night is just impressive.”
When the milestone was announced to the crowd at the Moda Center, Durant was met with warm applause from the fans and a congratulatory hug from Splitter, marking a memorable moment in another historic night for the future Hall of Famer.
