The Predictors

DeMar DeRozan scored 27 points and climbed into 22nd place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list as the Sacramento Kings defeated the New York Knicks 112–101 on Wednesday night.

Sacramento won its third straight game, improving to 11–30 and spoiling the return of Knicks coach Mike Brown, who made his first appearance at Golden 1 Center since being fired early in the 2024–25 season. Brown received a loud ovation from the crowd before tipoff and shared a brief courtside embrace with Kings owner Vivek Ranadive.

DeRozan, in his 17th NBA season, went 7-of-16 from the field and knocked down 12 of 13 free throws to reach 26,077 career points, passing Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett on the league’s scoring list. The six-time All-Star also connected on one 3-pointer.

Zach LaVine added 25 points for the Kings, while former Knick Precious Achiuwa delivered a strong all-around performance with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Russell Westbrook contributed 19 points and 11 assists as Sacramento built an early lead and maintained control throughout.

DeRozan and Achiuwa each scored 10 points in the first quarter, helping the Kings jump out to an 18–8 advantage and extend it to 32–17 by the end of the period.

Mikal Bridges led New York with 19 points. The Knicks were largely without Jalen Brunson, who injured his right ankle after scoring four points in the opening five minutes and did not return. OG Anunoby finished with 15 points and Karl-Anthony Towns added 13, but New York struggled offensively, shooting 39% from the field and just 8-of-41 from 3-point range.

The loss marked the Knicks’ first defeat in Sacramento since March 9, 2023.
