Karl-Anthony Towns posted 19 points and 14 rebounds as the New York Knicks cruised to their seventh straight win, blowing past the Washington Wizards 132-101 on Tuesday night.
Mikal Bridges led the way with 23 points and Jalen Brunson added 21 as New York continued its recent stretch of dominant performances. The Knicks lost Josh Hart in the third quarter to a sprained left ankle, but the injury did little to slow a team that controlled the game from the opening minutes. Hart, who finished with four points, seven rebounds and seven assists, limped to the locker room and did not return.
New York built an 18-point lead in the first quarter and carried a 72-45 advantage into halftime. The margin only grew from there, peaking at 41 points, as the Knicks knocked down 17 of 37 shots from beyond the arc and emptied the bench early. Only Brunson played more than 30 minutes as New York rested key contributors ahead of Wednesday’s matchup with Denver.
OG Anunoby scored 19 points for the Knicks, who have now won 11 straight games against Washington. The victory was another lopsided one in a surge that has followed a rough midseason stretch; during the current seven-game streak, New York has posted four wins by at least 27 points.
Will Riley scored 17 points and Bub Carrington added 14 for the Wizards, whose recent wins have been overshadowed by a pair of 31-point losses — one to the Lakers and two to the Knicks in the span of four days.
