Mikal Bridges erupted for 19 of his 30 points in the third quarter, Karl-Anthony Towns grabbed a season-high 22 rebounds, and the New York Knicks rallied past the Toronto Raptors 119-92 on Wednesday night to extend their winning streak to four games.
OG Anunoby scored 26 points and matched a season high with six steals against his former team, while Josh Hart added 22 points and Jalen Brunson finished with 13. The Knicks also won their 11th straight meeting with Toronto.
After struggling from deep early, New York found its rhythm after halftime. The Knicks shot just 4 of 19 from 3-point range in the first half, but Bridges jump-started the turnaround by hitting 3 of 4 from beyond the arc in the third quarter. New York finished 14 of 38 from long range.
Toronto led by as many as 12 points in the first half before the momentum flipped. Anunoby’s fast-break dunk with 3:54 left in the third quarter gave New York its first lead at 69-68 and ignited a 15-2 run to close the period. The Knicks pulled away from there as the Raptors went cold, shooting just 1 of 9 from 3-point range in the second half.
Brandon Ingram led Toronto with 27 points, Scottie Barnes posted 17 points and 10 rebounds, and RJ Barrett scored 14 as the Raptors saw their four-game winning streak snapped.
Towns managed just eight points on 3-of-11 shooting but dominated the glass, including 14 rebounds in the second quarter alone. Bridges was highly efficient, shooting 12 of 15 from the field.
Mitchell Robinson and Miles McBride both sat out for New York with left ankle injuries after playing Tuesday night. Toronto was coming off a successful Western Conference trip in which it won four of five games.
Both teams were sloppy with the ball — the Knicks had six turnovers in the first quarter alone — but Toronto finished with 20 turnovers, compared to 18 for New York.
