The NBA-best Detroit Pistons continued their dominance Sunday night, rallying past the Orlando Magic 106-92 for their sixth straight road victory.
Cade Cunningham led the charge with 29 points and 11 assists, while Tobias Harris added 23 — including the go-ahead 3-pointer midway through the third quarter that shifted the momentum for good. Jalen Duren chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds as Detroit improved to 45-14, winning for the eighth time in nine games.
The Pistons have now won 10 of their last 11 on the road and boast a 21-7 record away from home.
Detroit had to overcome a frigid start from beyond the arc, missing its first 15 attempts from 3-point range and trailing 57-50 at halftime. But the league leaders flipped the switch in the third quarter. After Harris’ triple put them ahead for the first time, the Pistons seized control with an 11-0 run that silenced the Orlando crowd.
The Magic struggled mightily after the break, shooting just 30.7% in the second half. Paolo Banchero paced Orlando with 24 points and 11 rebounds but committed nine turnovers. Tristan da Silva added 19 points and Desmond Bane scored 17, yet Orlando couldn’t recover from another third-quarter unraveling — the second in three games after surrendering a 19-point lead in a loss to Houston on Friday.
Detroit played without forward Isaiah Stewart, who served the final game of a seven-game suspension stemming from a Feb. 9 altercation in Charlotte. Orlando was without guard Anthony Black, sidelined for the first time this season due to a strained right quad.
Up next: The Pistons visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night, while the Magic return home to host the Washington Wizards.
