Reed Sheppard drilled a career-high seven 3-pointers and scored 28 points, and Alperen Sengun recorded a triple-double as Houston routed Sacramento on Wednesday night.
Sengun finished with 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists for his third triple-double of the season and 11th of his career. Kevin Durant added 21 points as the Rockets earned their most lopsided win of the season and won their second straight.
Houston seized control early. After Russell Westbrook scored 17 of his 22 points in the first quarter, the Rockets responded with a dominant second period, outscoring Sacramento 44-28 while shooting 8 of 12 from 3-point range to take a 77-50 halftime lead. Houston shot 54.7% overall and pushed the margin to 36 in the fourth.
DeMar DeRozan scored 15 points for the Kings and moved past Paul Pierce into 20th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. Sacramento, coming off a win that snapped a franchise-record 16-game skid, also lost starting forward Keegan Murray to a left ankle injury in the first quarter.
