Gobert entered Sunday’s 104-103 win over the San Antonio Spurs with five Flagrant Foul points and was assessed a Flagrant Foul 1 with 7:24 remaining in the fourth quarter. Under NBA rules, a player who exceeds five Flagrant Foul points receives an automatic suspension, with the length depending on the type of foul committed.
Gobert will serve his one-game suspension Thursday when the Timberwolves face the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum.
The NBA’s Flagrant Foul point system stipulates that a player with five or six points who commits a Flagrant Foul 1 is automatically suspended for one game, while a Flagrant Foul 2 at that total results in a two-game suspension. Players with seven or more points committing either type of foul also receive a two-game suspension.
