Julian Champagnie scored 26 points as the Spurs extended their winning streak to 11 games with a victory over the Nets on Thursday night.
Victor Wembanyama had his second straight quiet offensive outing with 12 points, but San Antonio showcased its depth. Stephon Castle added 18 points, De’Aaron Fox and Devin Vassell scored 14 apiece, Keldon Johnson had 13 and Dylan Harper finished with 12.
San Antonio (43-16) is riding its longest winning streak since a 13-game run during the 2015-16 season.
Michael Porter Jr. led Brooklyn with 24 points and 14 rebounds, and Day’Ron Sharpe added 14 points and 11 boards off the bench. The Nets have dropped six straight.
The Spurs never trailed. Just 13 seconds in, Wembanyama won the opening tip and found Castle for a dunk to spark a fast start. San Antonio led 36-22 after one quarter and pushed the margin to 48-26 early in the second on Champagnie’s 3-pointer.
Brooklyn trimmed the deficit to six early in the third, but the Spurs responded and carried a 104-84 lead into the fourth to put the game away.
