Victor Wembanyama matched a career-high with eight 3-pointers, finishing with 39 points and 11 rebounds, as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Boston Celtics 125–116 on Tuesday night to sweep the season series.

De’Aaron Fox added 25 points and Stephon Castle contributed 18 as San Antonio extended its winning streak to five games.

Derrick White led Boston with 34 points, and Jayson Tatum added 24 in just his third game back since rupturing his right Achilles tendon on May 12. Tatum’s fourth and final 3-pointer trimmed the deficit to 118–113 with 1:43 remaining, but Castle responded 18 seconds later with a 3-pointer that sealed the win.

The matchup between the No. 2 teams in each conference was physical and chippy. Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown was ejected in the first half after a pair of technical fouls stemming from a disputed out-of-bounds call, requiring teammates to restrain him. Wembanyama also left briefly following a first-half incident in which he was struck in the nose, eye, and forehead by Sam Hauser. He returned after the first quarter and went 8 of 15 from 3-point range and 11 of 20 overall, marking his 34th career 30-plus-point game in three seasons.

Boston finished 19 of 51 from beyond the arc after opening the game 9 of 17.
