De’Aaron Fox led the way with 31 points, and Victor Wembanyama added 26 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks as the San Antonio Spurs pulled away for a 126–109 victory over the Utah Jazz on Thursday night.
Fox was highly efficient, shooting 10-of-13 from the field and knocking down six 3-pointers. Wembanyama bounced back in a big way from a rough shooting night in the previous game, going 9-of-14 with four 3s as the Spurs won their fourth game in their last five.
Keldon Johnson contributed 21 points, while Stephon Castle stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. San Antonio shot 50.6% from the floor and 41.9% from beyond the arc, and dominated the open court, outscoring Utah 32–10 in fast-break points.
Jusuf Nurkić recorded his second straight triple-double for the Jazz, finishing with 17 points, a career-high 14 assists and 11 rebounds. The performance made him the first Utah player with back-to-back triple-doubles since Pete Maravich in January 1975, and just the third triple-double of his career. Many of Nurkić’s assists came on backdoor feeds from the high post, but Utah struggled to get stops.
Ace Bailey scored a career-high 25 points and Keyonte George added 23, though George was held scoreless in the fourth quarter. The Spurs closed the game with a decisive 27–10 run, handing the Jazz their fifth loss in the last six games.
After a 31–31 tie at the end of the first quarter, San Antonio seized control with a 17–2 burst early in the second, capped by Julian Champagnie’s fourth 3-pointer of the half. Utah battled back to tie the game at 99, but the Spurs answered with 10 straight points, highlighted by Fox’s 3-pointer that made it 109–99 with 6:54 remaining.
Utah continues to struggle defensively, allowing an NBA-high 127.3 points per game, and fell to 1–11 without Lauri Markkanen, who remained out due to a lingering illness.
