De’Aaron Fox scored 27 points and Victor Wembanyama added 26 as the San Antonio Spurs closed out the first half of the season on a six-game winning streak with a 126-113 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.
Wembanyama followed up his 40-point performance against the Lakers Tuesday with another dominant outing, helping the Spurs reach a 38-16 record at the All-Star break—the second-best in the Western Conference after six seasons missing the playoffs. Keldon Johnson contributed 21 points in the win.
Draymond Green led Golden State with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists, while Moses Moody and De’Anthony Melton added 17 apiece. The Warriors, playing without injured star Stephen Curry, fell to 29-26 after losing three of five games leading into the break.
San Antonio overcame a 13-point halftime deficit, but Golden State opened the third quarter with three straight 3-pointers to regain a 16-point lead. The Spurs responded with a 24-8 run to close the quarter, tying the score at 94 on a Fox jumper at the buzzer.
In the fourth, the Spurs pulled away. Wembanyama had an alley-oop dunk, a block, and a 3-pointer in under a minute to spark a 10-point lead, and San Antonio held on to win for the first time in three meetings this season against Golden State.
