Royce O’Neale scored 19 points and Devin Booker added 17 as the Phoenix Suns cruised past the Washington Wizards 112-93 on Sunday night.
Phoenix continued its strong run, winning for the 10th time in its last 13 games and improving to 14-5 at home. The Suns blew the game open in the third quarter, taking a 96-65 lead into the fourth after Washington struggled on both ends.
Dillon Brooks fueled the surge with 11 points in the third quarter, knocking down three 3-pointers. The Wizards were sloppy in the period, shooting just 6 of 21 (28.6 percent) from the field and committing seven turnovers.
With the outcome decided, Phoenix rested its starters for the entire fourth quarter. O’Neale finished 5 of 9 from beyond the arc, Brooks scored 16 points with four 3-pointers, and Booker also dished out eight assists.
The Suns’ bench delivered solid production, led by Grayson Allen’s 12 points. Oso Ighodaro added 10 points and Ryan Dunn chipped in nine.
Alex Sarr led Washington with 19 points and 15 rebounds, while rookie Tre Johnson also scored 19. The Wizards committed 23 turnovers and shot just 39.5 percent overall, including 23.3 percent from 3-point range, as they dropped their third straight game after a brief surge in which they won five of seven.
Phoenix built a 17-point lead in the second quarter and took a 65-50 advantage into halftime. Booker led the Suns with 13 first-half points, while Sarr had 13 for Washington.
The Wizards visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night. The Suns head to Miami on Tuesday night.
