The Predictors

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander poured in 30 points and Chet Holmgren added 28 as the Oklahoma City Thunder overwhelmed the Cleveland Cavaliers 136-104 on Monday night.

Gilgeous-Alexander reached the 30-point mark for the 30th time in 42 games, continuing an MVP-caliber season in which he is averaging 31.8 points, second-best in the NBA. Oklahoma City improved to a league-best 36-8 behind a blistering shooting performance, tying a season high with 23 made 3-pointers while hitting 48.9 percent from deep.

Luguentz Dort knocked down five 3s and finished with 18 points, while Isaiah Joe scored 16 and Holmgren connected on four triples of his own. The Thunder were especially lethal late, closing the game with a 23-5 run over the final 3:33, during which seven of their final shots came from beyond the arc. Oklahoma City went 10 of 13 from 3-point range in the fourth quarter alone.

The loss was Cleveland’s most lopsided in nearly two seasons under coach Kenny Atkinson. The Cavaliers hadn’t lost a regular-season game by 30 or more points since a 37-point defeat at Miami on March 24, 2024.

Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland with 19 points, while Jaylon Tyson posted 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jarrett Allen scored 16 points in his 600th career NBA game.

Cleveland struggled mightily from the perimeter, shooting just 8 of 35 on 3-pointers (22.9 percent), its second-worst mark of the season. The Cavaliers dropped to 24-20 overall and have now lost eight of their last 14 home games after going 34-7 at Rocket Arena last season.

The Cavaliers briefly pulled within 50-45 on a De’Andre Hunter 3-pointer late in the second quarter, but the Thunder responded with a 16-6 run to close the half, taking a 66-51 lead into the break.

Oklahoma City was already without Jalen Williams, who is expected to miss a couple of weeks with a right hamstring strain. The rotation thinned further when Alex Caruso (right groin soreness) and Jaylin Williams (low back contusion) exited in the first half, but the Thunder’s depth never faltered.
