Anthony Edwards scored 26 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves rolled past the Miami Heat 122-94 on Tuesday night, completing a two-game sweep of Miami in four days.
Edwards, who was listed as questionable with a foot injury, showed no signs of limitation as he knocked down a team-high five 3-pointers and went 5 of 6 from the free-throw line. The win marked Minnesota’s third straight, following a 125-115 victory over the Heat on Saturday.
Jaden McDaniels added 19 points for the Timberwolves, while Rudy Gobert finished with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Julius Randle recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. Miami was led by Norman Powell’s 21 points, and Tyler Herro scored 17 in his return after missing 11 games with a toe injury, coming off the bench for just the fourth time in the past four seasons.
Foul trouble briefly slowed Edwards, who picked up two fouls in the first quarter and a fourth late in the third, but Minnesota steadily pulled away after halftime. The Wolves turned a seven-point halftime lead into a runaway in the third quarter, highlighted by a deep Randle 3-pointer at the shot-clock buzzer and back-to-back triples from Dante DiVincenzo.
Minnesota led 93-77 entering the fourth and emptied the bench with more than four minutes left as the lead ballooned to 28.
