Rudy Gobert posted 15 points and 17 rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves pulled away to beat the Golden State Warriors 108-83 on Monday night in a matchup missing several of its usual stars.
Golden State played without Stephen Curry (knee) and Draymond Green (back), while Minnesota scratched Anthony Edwards shortly before tipoff to rest a recurring right foot injury. The Timberwolves took advantage, snapping a five-game losing streak — their longest since December 2022.
Julius Randle led Minnesota with 18 points, Bones Hyland added 17, and Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo chipped in 15 apiece. Gobert anchored the interior as the Timberwolves overcame a slow shooting start and 23 turnovers.
Quinten Post paced Golden State with 13 points. Brandin Podziemski finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, and Gui Santos recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors struggled mightily from deep, shooting a season-low 23.1 percent (9 of 39) from 3-point range.
After Golden State jumped out to a 16-8 lead behind a 13-0 run while Minnesota missed seven of its first eight 3-pointers, the Timberwolves found their footing. Hyland sparked a response with three transition layups, and Reid’s first 3-pointer helped Minnesota take a 21-20 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Timberwolves seized control late in the second quarter with a decisive 21-4 run. Randle scored 10 points during the surge, which pushed Minnesota to a 53-38 halftime lead. The Wolves never relinquished control from there, steadily building the margin in the second half.
The win came one night after Golden State snapped Minnesota’s 103-game streak of scoring at least 100 points, the third-longest such streak in NBA history.
