Anthony Edwards scored 31 points and sealed the game with a clutch 3-pointer as the Timberwolves beat the Clippers on Thursday night.

Edwards, returning to the arena where he was named All-Star Game MVP, shot 12 of 24 from the field and drilled a step-back 3 over two defenders for a 92-88 lead with 42.9 seconds remaining. Minnesota improved to 5-1 since Feb. 9 and 3-1 since the All-Star break.

Donte DiVincenzo added 18 points, while Jaden McDaniels and Ayo Dosunmu each had 12. Rudy Gobert grabbed 13 rebounds as the Timberwolves moved to 2-0 on their three-game road trip.

Derrick Jones Jr. led Los Angeles with 18 points and Bennedict Mathurin scored 14. Kris Dunn added 11, but the Clippers dropped their third straight game — their first three-game skid since December — while playing without Kawhi Leonard (ankle).

Los Angeles shot 40.5% from the field and managed a season-low 38 points in the first half, including just 11 in the second quarter. Minnesota led 44-38 at the break.

The Clippers carried a 68-63 edge into the fourth before Edwards’ driving reverse layup put the Timberwolves ahead for good at 76-74 with 7:40 left.
