The Washington Wizards completed a back-to-back sweep of the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 131-118 victory behind a breakout performance from Alonde Williams.
Williams delivered career highs with 25 points and 10 rebounds in just his 11th NBA game. The fourth-year guard, who signed a 10-day contract earlier in the week, shot 9 of 11 from the field and 5 of 5 at the free-throw line. With the score tied at 92 entering the fourth, Williams took over, scoring 11 points in the final period to help Washington create separation.
He punctuated his night with an alley-oop dunk off a feed from Sharife Cooper, then returned the favor by setting up Cooper for a transition layup before knocking down his second 3-pointer with just over a minute remaining.
Cooper matched his career high with 18 points as Washington moved two games ahead of Indiana at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
Indiana was led by Jay Huff, who scored 22 points and tied a career best with five 3-pointers. Quenton Jackson added 21 points, Micah Potter finished with 18, and Jarace Walker recorded 12 points and 12 rebounds as the Pacers closed a six-game road trip at 2-4.
Indiana again played without Pascal Siakam, who missed his second straight game while managing a left hamstring injury. Washington was without Kyshawn George due to a sprained left toe.
