While the San Francisco 49ers took down the Philadelphia Eagles 23-19 in their NFC Wild Card matchup, they will advance to the divisional round without standout tight end George Kittle, who tore his Achilles on Sunday.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Kittle tore his Achilles during the game. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported.
Kittle tallied a single reception for six yards before exiting the game due to injury, leaving San Francisco short-handed for a majority of its first postseason contest. He finished the 2025 regular season with 57 receptions for 628 yards and seven touchdowns, averaging 11 yards per reception. He only played 11 games due to injury, and snapped his two year consecutive streak of 1,000-plus receiving yard seasons.
In fact, Kittle's 2025 campaign was the second lowest receiving yards he has tallied in his career. The worst was his rookie season when he recorded 515 yards. Even in 202 when he played just eight games, he tallied 634 receiving yards. However his seven touchdowns were tied for 15th best in the league.
