Free-agent safety Alohi Gilman has agreed to a three-year, $24.75 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Monday night. The deal includes $15 million guaranteed.
Gilman, 28, played a key role in stabilizing the Baltimore Ravens defense after being acquired in early October from the Los Angeles Chargers. Following his arrival, Baltimore allowed an average of just 18.4 points per game as Gilman started 12 contests at deep safety. His presence also allowed Kyle Hamilton to move closer to the line of scrimmage in a more versatile role.
One of Gilman’s biggest moments came in a 24–0 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in December. After linebacker Kyle Van Noy intercepted a pass from Joe Burrow, he lateraled the ball to Gilman, who returned it 84 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Known for his ability to read and react quickly in pass coverage, Gilman emerged as a leader in Baltimore’s secondary and finished sixth on the team with 68 tackles. Originally selected by the Chargers in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he has appeared in five seasons and recorded 320 tackles, five interceptions, 27 passes defended, five forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries with the Chargers and Ravens.
