The Washington Commanders have continued to reshape their pass rush, agreeing to a one-year deal with edge rusher K'Lavon Chaisson, according to reports.

The contract is worth $11 million and could reach $12 million with incentives.

Chaisson is coming off a breakout season with the New England Patriots and will enter his seventh NFL season in 2026. Last year he signed a modest one-year deal in New England worth up to $5 million but delivered the most productive campaign of his career. In 16 regular-season games and four playoff appearances, Chaisson recorded 43 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 28 quarterback hits and three forced fumbles.

Patriots coach Mike Vrabel previously praised Chaisson for his effort, speed and finishing ability, along with his willingness to contribute on special teams in punt protection and coverage.

Chaisson now joins a revamped Washington defense that has also added edge rusher Odafe Oweh and linebacker Leo Chenal in free agency this week.

Originally selected in the first round of the 2020 draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Chaisson struggled to find consistency early in his career, recording just five sacks over four seasons in Jacksonville. He matched that total in 2024 with the Las Vegas Raiders before breaking out last season with the Patriots.

Washington is betting that momentum carries into 2026 as the team continues building a more aggressive pass rush.
