An NFC East team is looking to steal a page from its division rival in a bid to revamp its defense.
The Dallas Cowboys are hiring Christian Parker, the Philadelphia Eagles’ secondary coach and passing game coordinator, as their new defensive coordinator, according to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. The Cowboys officially confirmed Parker’s hiring on Friday.
Parker, 34, has experienced a rapid rise through the coaching ranks. He spent the past two seasons on Vic Fangio’s staff in Philadelphia, helping the Eagles’ secondary emerge as one of the league’s most versatile units. Despite only entering the NFL coaching ranks in 2019, Parker has quickly earned a reputation for his scheming ability, adaptability, and player development skills—particularly in pass coverage.
The move signals Dallas’ intent to revamp a defense that has struggled against the pass, while also adding fresh energy and a modern approach from someone familiar with one of the NFL’s top secondary units. Parker will now take the reins of a Cowboys defense looking to combine talent with strategic innovation under head coach Mike McCarthy.
