Brandon Aubrey has been one of the NFL’s most consistent kickers since entering the league, and now he’ll be compensated accordingly—at least for the next season.
The Dallas Cowboys have placed a second-round restricted free agent tender on Aubrey, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Saturday. The Cowboys confirmed the move shortly after, also applying the same tender to offensive lineman TJ Bass.
The tender, valued at $5.76 million, allows other teams to extend offer sheets to Aubrey or Bass. Dallas retains the right to match any offer, and if they choose not to, the team would receive a second-round draft pick from the signing club.
Aubrey’s tender puts him third among NFL kickers in annual salary, behind only the Kansas City Chiefs’ Harrison Butker ($6.4 million) and the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jake Elliott ($6 million).
Aubrey, 30, has already carved out a remarkable NFL career, making six field goals of 60 yards or longer—an NFL record—since joining the Dallas Cowboys in 2023 after a background in soccer. His leg strength has made him a key weapon for the team.
Aubrey has earned Pro Bowl honors in each of his three seasons and was named All-Pro as a rookie, cementing his status as one of the league’s elite kickers. Over his career, he has converted 88.2% of field goals (112 of 127) and 96.9% of extra points (126 of 130). Impressively, he has made 35 field goals of 50 or more yards, hitting 79.5% of those attempts.
It’s no surprise that contract talks surrounding Aubrey made headlines in recent weeks. While kicker negotiations rarely dominate sports news, in Dallas—where everything is magnified—the conversation around Aubrey’s deal became impossible to ignore.
